This seasonally dry lake is located on the northern part of the Panamint Mountains in Death Valley. Its most famous feature is not the fact that it occasionally has water, but that its rocks mysteriously move across its surface. The reason for it is the fact that water from heavy rains in the mountains wash down into the lakebed forming a shallow lake, and are moved across the water and mud by strong winds. They are a wonder to marvel at, and an attraction for visitors to the Death Valley area.
